Greeting Cards Up!

After a good deal of hair pulling and a stupid amount of patience, I've finally got my artwork up on greeting cards at Zazzle. That includes art from the World Goddess Oracle, the series of Gods I did a while back, and all the miscellaneous Goddess art I've done and have been doing lately through my Patreon. The price goes down if you buy ten or more, and you can mix and match as you please.

Art

Funny enough with everything going on I've got a couple pieces of art done. I have no idea what's going on or what that means, but they are two more Goddesses for the World Goddess Oracle (née the Goddess Oracle Deck). Actually there are three now, but I haven't scanned in the third, because with the new (to me) computer and the issues it has with not recognizing the scanner it's this huge big deal of swapping cables and restarting to the old computer that will do Classic to scan something so I'll wait till I'm doing a couple at a time. Anyway.

I redid Chalchiuhtlicue, the Aztec Goddess of water; I was never really happy with the original, and like the new one much better.  Aztec Goddesses just kind of aren't the fluffy love and light kinds, you know?

She's still got hair after the way the Aztecs drew water in the codices, with seashells and water droplets; Her dress is after a pattern from a statue which I've colored in to look sort of like the mosaics the Aztecs made out of bits of turquoise, which was sacred to Her for its blue watery color.  Also the tassels are part of Her usual iconography, though they kind of ended up with seashells on top, though I'm not sure what they are originally supposed to be.  It works, though.

The second one (well, actually the one I did first) is Yhi, an Australian sun Goddess Who was said to have created all the living creatures.   As she's Australian I always figured She was a bit of a quirky sort Who loves pockets; after all She created all those marsupials as well as the platypus.  Here She is, Her hair sunbleached, rising over the Outback, with white lines painted on Her body like sun-rays:

I've got a few more than thirty of them up now, in various sizes; all the Gods, and starting in on the Goddess Oracle cards. I'm working on getting them all up (with a couple of exceptions, namely Melaina, which is just too dark, and the Sheila na Gig, which contravenes their policy, which is, yes, stupid, as it is a sincere religious work of art); but if you have a specific request just drop me a line (my first name at my first name my last name dot com) and I'll move it to the front of the line.

Also if you're interested in something larger (the biggest I've got them is like ten by fifteen inches I think) let me know. I'll have to make up more art at a higher resolution, but it's not a problem at all.

Off For A Bit

Just a heads-up that I will be away for the next couple of weeks, and so there will be no Goddess of the Week posts in that time. I should be back the first week of December. Until then, happy Thanksgiving to the Usaians, and happy November to the rest of y'all. See you when I get back!

Now if I were the type to have a MySpace page (I'm not; I've been dragged kicking and screaming into this technology stuff as it is and would much rather sit on the porch yelling at the damn kids to just GET OFF MY LAWN ALREADY) this would fit quite nicely. I can't decide if it's hypnotic or vertigo-inducing, but still, kind of fun.

New Card Line at Zazzle!

I've put everybody up but the Sheila-na-Gig (for some reason, publishers seem to think She is 'obscene'), including the new version of al-Uzza and the second Hera I did for the SageWoman cover.

There are several nice things about Zazzle's cards: first, you can customize the inside to read whatever you like at no extra cost; second, you start seeing discounts when you buy ten or more of them (and they'll put them in a box too); and, third, and at long last, you can mix and match cards within your set.

ETA: Whoa, checked my email and apparently someone at Zazzle likes my Hekate card, as it's been put up on their Awards Showcase, for today anyway. The thing wasn't even up an hour!

Bits & Pieces

I suppose I should say that one of the reasons this blog has been only the Goddess of the Week entries as of late is that I have been working like crazy getting stuff together for a new shop or three. One of which tasks is the scanning in of all eighty-three (I know, an eighty-one card deck with eighty-three cards!) of the Goddess Oracle Deck cards at 1200 dpi, since I had lost all my previous (and anyway rather smaller resolution) scans a couple years back in a hard drive crash, alas. And even though the originals aren't all that big (like three something by five something inches) those scans are pretty freakin' slow with the scanner I've got. But I've been beavering away, as they say, though it is fairly mind-numbing. But it's left me with these odd chunks of time, about five minutes long, while I babysit the computer. Not quite time enough to do much, I thought.

But then it occurred to me I could knit. So that's what I've been doing, and that's what's going to be seeding (hopefully) an Etsy shop sometime soon. I've got about a dozen more sundry and various knit critters to sew up, including several stripey cats.
